That's disappointing about the room situation,
Might be an option to forgo the upgrade and in favour of a beter view ?

Yes the metro massage is a unique feature of those rooms on lower floors in the vicinity of Auber street ...
My parents used to think it was a minor earth quake on each 3 minute interval

Enjoy your stay in Paris and have a nice drink to sooth the nerves
