I know I have read about this happening with other airlines. was able to book a trip with an EK leg on it with UA miles. When it "confirmed" I got an alert that said a leg had been cancelled. Spent 30 minutes on the phone with GS and they could not do anything. When I dropped the confirmation number into emirates it shows "waitlisted" on that leg.

I know there likely isnt anything I can do here but anyone know why this happens?
