I'm not surprised that the Conrad Midtown is leaving Hilton. On my last stay, my wife noticed mold on the shower curtain. After several requests, they actually tried to bring up a clean one, except they couldn't find one that fits. It's the hotel that can't shoot straight. By contrast, the Downtown Conrad gets good reviews, it's not inexpensive but people seem to feel that they get value for their money. The Midtown gets reviews like an old Hampton Inn and the $50 per-person breakfast buffet is the poster boy for poor quality at sky high prices. I have to imagine that Hilton was not happy with the Conrad Midtown being rated as an average NYC hotel. That had to change. I won't miss this place.
