I'd politely tell the GM (or call elite services and tell them) why my team was heading across the street to *wood (just my second preference) and then do it. I'm sure, based on your presence and MR status, SPG would comp you Gold no problem, if not already elite there. The important thing is walking; any GM worth their bonus would avoid that at all costs. They've failed and Bill don't like that

Your experience is unlike any I've ever had at a Marriott property anywhere. Some stays were worse than others, but not overwhelmingly so. We use both their hotels and timeshare properties.
