Prices do not correlate with distance, not since de-regulation. There is nothing that says just b/c it's short it has to be cheap. Tons of airlines compete in the NYC-LAX market, so prices are cheap. Not many airlines provide, for instance, Westchester County to Syracuse flight, so it's not cheap (just an example). So what if that flight is 200 miles?
