So bag has gone missing although I know its sitting at AMS. Still there. There have been 15 flights to Madrid since I reported it missing. Delta and KLM could NOT care less. Having experienced this twice in one trip last summer on a trip to Europe (once with DL/KLM and once with TAP Portugal), the truth is they don't really care and they don't make quick efforts to get it you. With DL/KLM, it took my wife's bag 24 hours and my bag 48 hours to get to us. When we had the issue with TAP Portugal, it took my wife's bag 3 days to get delivered to us in BCN after not making the 2 hour connection we had in LIS.
Unfortunately you are stuck dealing with Iberia if they were the last airline you flew with, even if the bag hasn't made it to Iberia's control yet. I was very happy to have invested in AirTags prior to that trip because when the airlines I was dealing with were even telling me "We don't know where your bag is" I was able to tell them "Um, my AirTag shows it's by Gate BXX at JFK."
