Oh I don’t disagree the implementation of this is sneaky - that it should have been done for bookings as of X date, but that was likely a lot of extra IT work. But I have no fundamental issue with this policy.

And yes I do foresee a ‘Business Light’ fare in the future that charges for seat selection as well.
