Have United Quest card in system. Looking to book a flight but have enough travel credits to cover the whole cost. If I use those will I lose the bag benefit as I have not charged anything to the card or is there some exception in the case of credits. If not - will it allow me to select to pay some minimal amount in cash on the card which would hopefully trigger the bag benefit.

As a last resort - I suppose I could purchase a different ticket that uses some of my credit - buy the ticket for my trip with the remaining credit and some on the card - and then cancel the first ticket (which also let's me extend the remaining credit expiration I think).

Thoughts on easiest way to ensure I get the bag benefit?
