Briefly, the freephone numbers for BA are free (I think this is true with a non UK installation), so you don't need credit, you just dial up the 0800 number or whatever.

Putting 20 dollars into your account is also worth doing, it allows you to call at internal country rates almost wherever you are. I use it in countries such as the US where I don't have roaming on my contract. It's not so great for being called, as I don't think you get a number, but very good for summoning shuttle buses and ordering takeaway. With that and AirAlo for data I have pretty much everything I need.

You can get an incoming calls number for Skype but it's a subscription and not that good value IMO.
