If you had your Air India freq flyer number in the reservation other airline ffps may consider "a
lready credited to another ffp", even though earned nil ff miles/points/avios. In that case would need to get TG to uncredit (may~may not be possible).
Someone from GB joining Air India ffp is a little unusual for Thai flights, unless you plan a lot of Air India flights. Seem to be few threads on Air India FFP. Most people would join an EU Star Alliance ffp or UA (miles never expire).

Which Frequent Flyer Program to Join? Help Is Here!
I am an Indian currently living in the UK. I take Air India when I fly home or while traveling domestic within India. That is why I tried crediting it to AI
I am considering doing some short summer vacation trips to the EU. I will check EU Star Alliance as well.
1: It is possible to change before a trip, but I don't think you can after a trip has been taken (and it has been "credited" at 0%).
2: It's typically best that you credit to the program you fly the most for non-alliance perks (if available). What airline do you fly the most? Are these usually cheap economy tickets or expensive business class tickets, or somewhere in-between?
I travel on economy and I take KLM / AF (Currently on FB Silver) when I fly to South East Asia from BHX (but also looking to try Turkish Airlines next time as I am trying to stick to Star Alliance if possible).
When I fly to India from the UK, I take Emirates or Air India. For India Domestic, I use Air India.
This time I used Thai Airways as I was visiting BKK / CGK from India. I just booked the cheapest Thai Airways option from Amex Travel portal thinking I would be able to benefit AI miles from it

but unfortunately it did not go as planned,
