I was BA Gold for about 5 years. That was when I was CK via Airpass and didn't have to worry about how much I flew AA to maintain it, and it was pretty easy to obtain organically. Just 3 or 4 RT transcon AA flights in F using my BA number, and then 4 flights on BA metal. Much easier to obtain than CK, of course not the same level of service either. I agree that the BA Gold phone line was quick and helpful, but I don't believe it's 24/7 or U.S. based, though I could be wrong about both of those things.
If I'm not renewed for CK, I will definitely be getting my Gold status back at BA, and then will try to figure out what benefits that would give me when flying AA.

I just did the match. First to Delta with my CK card and then to BA. It literally took 72 hours in total. To maintain is basically a roundtrip through LHR so I will do that within these 6 months. As many here, still have lots of AA flights... domestic and international
