I've ran into stinker Hyatt Places too (last one I was at in March the breakfast was completely mediocre, they couldn't issue a room key until Day 1/Night 2 of the stay because the machine issuing room keys was broken, the room was OK but tired). I've had some beaten up Residence Inns. So I don't find this is unique to Hampton Inns, certainly.
