JFK - LHR 22nd April

None of the Greenwich Lounge staff were able to give dietary info on the food available - other one that helpfully suggested that most of the vegetables might be gluten free. Pretty ravenous when we boarded!

got off to a poor start that they had run out of champers for the pre dinner drinks - with 40 minutes to go until departure! Cabin wasn’t even full by that time. Service was disappointing. Crew were invisible and service took a looong time.

Made the mistake of opting for the GF menu (two coeliac pax).
Told GF meal was chicken and couscous - I didn’t think couscous was GF so asked to change but told not possible.
No choice of starter or dessert. Starter was the sweet potato - went off that when I spotted the rice (I hope!) which looked like the mealworm I feed the birds. Took an hour for main course to be served (although may have been waiting to see if any other dishes were left to substitute). Didn’t eat it as still had many hours of travel ahead of me and consequences of being glutened not pleasant - particularly for fellow pax. Dessert was pleasant.

Breakfast was grim - toasted aubergine sandwich. (Although see post in CW for the domestic GF brekkie!) Not offered tea and by time flight attendant returned it was too late.

On the whole the gf offerings were poor with no menu and crew very vague as to what the meals might be. Disappointing after superb experience on outward journey.
