UL is another very good way to fly within Asia in J.
Couldn't agree with this more. Anyone who's been in Hong Kong knows that service is very 'lacking' unless you pay for it, in which case it's very good. To me, the greeting (and repeated greetings) is a sign that you've been cared for; that the staff notice who you are and you are getting (to a subjective degree) a personalised service.

For me, certain very small things about the greeting can stretch a long way. Usually the person serving me is one of two people. I don't like using the call button as on long flights, it's an opportunity to go for a walk when I would like something. When I step into the galley, they recognise me usually and often end the request with 'you're in seat x correct' followed sometimes with the name. Do I get this with BA? Nope
