Almost everyone who lives in Washington DC's Northwest quadrant can see their house when landing southbound into DCA on the left side. The planes usually swoop over the Potomac river and is a few miles from landing at a low altitude as it passes by Georgetown, Foggy Bottom/Watergate, and the National Mall. It's quite a breathtaking sight! I have seen my house quite clearly on numerous occasions. I haven't really paid attention to the right side but I imagine you can see quite a bit of Northern VA as well. So close you could almost touch it!
