Well I made the call to BA and the agent stated that they do a 2 to 3 week grace period and should be granted the status. I explained I haven't been and asked politely and if careful consideration on upgrading my status be looked at. The agent filed the report on the Friday and on the following Monday, I received the news that they have now upgraded me. it took less than 48 hrs to do so. At the moment even though I'm now silver status it is still asking for a fee to choose my seat. must take a while for the systems to catch up.

So it is with calling them guys, take the chance.
