Hi all,

I was on that flight. Since it was a scheduled near-midnight departure (that eventually took off around 3am - we were onboard the whole time it was waiting on the ground trying to fix the issue) most of us, in Club at least, were sleeping during the circling.
All in all, it was about 9 hours from boarding in Singapore to disembarking.
Disembarking was somewhat shambolic on the ground, since at 9am there were no BA ground staff around to deal with an A380 full of disgruntled passengers.

We were booked into hotels, although we could've booked our own and claimed it back.

In the case of the hotel I got, (nearer downtown Singapore than Changi) they seemed to be well-versed in the procedure, and took my taxi receipt, stapled it to my boarding pass and hotel booking, gave me meal vouchers, and refunded me in SGD cash for the taxi.

Around noon, I noticed that the BA app and website showed a 17:00 departure, so I headed out to the airport about 2pm to see what was happening.
"Nothing" is the answer, as several other passengers who had gone to the airport found out.

Eventually a BA person showed up and told us to ignore the app and website and only act on direct messages from BA.
Which is fine, except there had been no messages at all after the initial message saying BA would take care of taxis and hotels.
So naturally people will seek out whatever information they can find.

So we went back to our hotels and received more meal vouchers. In my case, I got back into the same room.
Some people called BA or BA Exec Club and after hanging for 20 minutes or more, on essentially received the same info that was on the website - that we had been told to ignore.
It changed from time to time, to an evening departure, then a 2am Wednesday departure - but still no direct message from BA.

I cancelled my Wednesday appointments in Aberdeen.

By this time I had had a couple of drinks with friendly other BA12 passengers, and we went for a meal. Still slightly anxious that a 2am departure would mean scrambling at midnight to get out to the airport, some 30 minutes taxi-ride away.
During the meal, the BA app/website started to show 15:30 Wednesday SIN departure so we relaxed and had a few more drinks. An hour or so after the website change we received SMS texts from BA confirming the 15:30 time (22:20 ETA at LHR). That was the first direct contact since the message on arrival that morning.

My onward flights to ABZ still need to be changed but we'll see about that tomorrow.

So that's a 2-day technical delay - so far.
