Immediately following the ‘Boarding complete’ announcement, the captain came on to thank everyone for boarding in such a timely manner and then announced the almost inevitable slot delay with a revised departure time of 08:28, 18 minutes late. Experience dictates that there is enough flex in the schedule that this delay would not impact our on time arrival.
Menus were distributed pre-flight however I had pre-ordered the Kosher special as I normally do, you just cannot beat those warm cinnamon buns!
We were off the ground at half past the hour and as part of the In Flight leads announcement she reminded everyone that BA are now offering free wi-fi for messaging on all flights and so I thought I’d give it a go. Unfortunately this failed at the first step, attempting to get a log in screen just resulted in the spinning wheel of doom.
With five rows in front of the curtain there were 18 in total for breakfast and lucky for all concerned that it wasn’t a normal 10 rows or more in business because the crew made only 18 seats look hard. Not an awful crew by any means they were very pleasant but the service was pretty disorganised and slow.
My Kosher meal arrived still all in the packaging so I had the joy of unpacking it and the hot tray in particular is fun to unwrap. There was an impressive pile of trash by the time I had finished. The meal itself was the worst Kosher one I’ve had, everything was sloppy and flavourless, apart from the bun which was as delightful as ever.
Hopefully the only way is up, it’s been a sub-optimal start to the trip.
Most of our departure delay disappeared in the air and the captain announced ten minutes to landing after we had done a loop or two at the Bovingdon holding point, and we were on the ground almost exactly on time. Thick cloud on the approach to Heathrow so no photo opportunities this time, plenty more flights to go
