And we’re off!
Uber had been booked in advance and arrived promptly, and a chatty driver made for a quick trip to the airport. The check in area was very quiet, a couple of people at the Jet2 check in, a couple at Tui, and a very short queue at the BA desks

First order of the day was to find the Left Luggage desk which was easier said than done. There is no signage anywhere and eventually I asked customer service and was directed to oversized baggage counter.
The plan is to leave the suitcase here every day and pick it up each night before heading to the hotel. The one exception will be Larnaca where I’ll almost certainly check it in for the overnight stop.
Baggage dropped and it was up the escalators to a completely empty security. No secondary screening and I was through to the departure duty free rat run in mere moments.
It looks like the renovations are almost complete in the departures area. All of the hoardings have now been removed from the main departures area and it now consists of three large food and drink outlet spaces.
Tap+Brew have an extensive Stottie menu and I think I’ll have to give them a try at some point this week
Down the escalator and to the lounge and once again the hoarding has now gone although there is clearly some final finishing touches outstanding
And so to the lounge which is also relatively quiet. I was surprised to see a new sign on reception declaring that photography and filming in the lounge are prohibited.
The Luxe side of the lounge now has a menu offering various dishes at additional charge, none of which were tempting.
Traditional start to the day, for me.
And now with around forty minutes to boarding it’s time to enjoy the drinks and maybe a small bit of breakfast to set me up for the day to come.
