I would add timing to that as well. My outbound flight to Hawaii last week got me A29 and a flight 2/3rds full (only 2 in C group). Inbound was a full flight and I drew B3, and of course the B group was half empty with a bunch of people in family boarding - my family managed to score a full row near the front since no one wanted the windowless seat on a MAX. But another family of 4 a few numbers behind us got split 2-1-1. I thought they would've split 2-2, but maybe the remaining seats in B group were that bad with family boarding.

I guess if Southwest really wanted to raise more revenue on the tourist routes, they'd make family boarding after the last EBCI.
