I’ve found that Tour Pass works with some small vendors and vending machines where WeChat pay linked to a foreign credit card does not. So I keep a small balance there. Also when you call for a Taxi using DiDi, they sometimes want a deposit and only Toupass works. There are some remote places like Jiuzhaigou where there are no DiDi cars, but the app works to call a taxi
