I received stay credit for my own room (5 nights) plus points for spend on both rooms credited to my account. Did NOT receive the single night credit for redeeming the GoH cert.

Reached out to my concierge and got this response:

“Please note that in order to receive Tier Qualifying Night credit for the Guest of Honor Award, the reservation must be in the name of the guest that is staying in the room.

As the reservation was in your name unfortunately, you will not receive the Tier Qualifying Night.”

Leaving aside the fact that I was under the impression that he put the reservation under my parents’ name (I have a message from him confirming this, although no official Hyatt reservation confirmation), what’s the point of the “gift someone (or yourself) a Globalist experience” language. If I gift a GoH to myself, I receive the Globalist benefits I’d be receiving anyway. So the ONLY benefit of using the GoH for myself would be the one-night credit, no? Which I’m not getting?

Sounds like these new certs are a boon to traders, but for regular Hyatt guests who don’t want to sponsor GoH stays, the GoH certs are as useless as the club certs? I guess if you’d like to have the night credit, it makes sense to work out a circular gifting scheme.
If you used a GOH for your own booking you do not earn the 1EQN. These start at the 40 night Milestone so the use then on yourself method is for non-Globalists who earn them at 40 or 50 nights.

As far as getting the 1 EQN from what I’ve seen and experienced you should always use the “Gift” method on the Hyatt app or Hyatt.com to transfer them to another person’s WOH account then make the booking through their account. If your parents don’t have one make one for them it’s pretty simple. Then if you make a good number of cash bookings for them have them transfer you any points earned a year or so later (or use those points for a future GOH booking on points).
