I know the original post is some 3 years old but just to provide an update on an important detail for other readers:

That's not quite correct. LH/LX and others do not honour status-based allowances for Economy Light fares in Europe.

It's a different story for intercontinental light fares were you get a free bag at the check-in counter but not when checking in online.
