Was AC a victim? Sure. But paying the perpetrator and giving them access to the goods... "Who would trust the company with a valuable shipment now?"
But as I pointed out, if the employees in question had passed their background checks and were bonded, how could the airline have predicted that they would commit this crime? If AC had allowed unauthorized people into the secure cargo area, or it was hiring people without administering the proper checks, then it could be argued that the airline was negligent. But how could AC have reasonably foreseen that an employee(s) who had passed all relevant checks and given the airline no prior cause for concern, would suddenly go rogue?
