This won't work. From the middle of page 40 in the
Guide to Benefits in bold italicized print:
If You are eligible for insurance under multiple Credit Card Accounts, You will only be insured under the Account which provides the largest benefit amount for the loss that occurred.

No, and even if they did, the above clause would restrict the benefit. This language exists in case you wanted to use something like the United Infinite Club card to purchase your United airfare and get free checked bags and put the rest of the trip on the CSR. Even if you distribute the costs across multiple cards only the card with the largest benefit can be used.

Yes, this is true. The Amex Platinum trip cancellation/interruption insurance also requires round-trip common carrier travel to be purchased in full alongside any other travel expenses. If you don't don't pay in full, and it doesn't include round-trip common carrier travel, the coverage will not apply.
