Funnily enough, even after he manually applied it, my delta stays credit bar remained at zero, so it's quite possible I can double dip. Keep trying the amex reps, someone will be familiar with this as an issue and you might even get an unexpected bonus out of it.
They probably corrected your charge because that Palm Springs hotel is still available on Delta's website. Now that an investigation has concluded against me, it is going to be difficult to convince a rep, and I don't want to waste anymore time on this.
I cancelled the Delta Business Reserve yesterday, and applied for the Delta Business Gold. We only fly about 3 times per year, and Alaska is becoming our main airline. That doesn't get me out of the Delta Stays game, but I prefer a general haircut from fees, credits, and obligations.
