Whilst I'm no huge fan of EK over the past ~2 years I really think people need to understand the circumstances around this whole scenario and remember that not everything in life will go according to plan. Is it pleasant? No of course not. But it is what it is.
It isn't just about EK at the airport, or DXB. The entire country ground to a stop in 20 hours. Every school across Dubai was closed by the government for 4 days, no exceptions. Most (reasonable) companies, where possible, instructed staff not to bother trying to get to offices. Just driving around Dubai you will see hundreds of abandoned vehicles that have been stuck in the floods, homes have been completely flooded with water levels inside over 1m high.
So yes DXB has flooding, yes that's impacting ability to land and takeoff, but supply chain issues will also have played a huge factor, inability for pilots, crew, ground staff and all personnel to physically get to the airport have played a part and more.
Could EK communicate better? Of course, but the same is said of most corporations in time of crisis such as this. EK wasn't adequately prepared, nor was Dubai itself, 1.5 years worth of rain fell in ~18 hours, put that into context of any city and see what happens, particularly one that isn't built to handle even a little rain, or one of the busiest airports in the world.
