I am not sure what you are referring to re: vandalism. I rented non descript small cars that were easy to park and followed the same rules that I follow at home - either don't have any belongings visible or took my belongings into the lodging.
This is *exactly* what I'm looking for. Could you share with me the car rental spot you used? We're finding mostly companies where we'll need to drop off car in same country - which means a loop road trip. And that's not ideal, as we want to start in Albania, spend a month in the Balkans and then train from northern Balkans to Hungary.
