We stayed there for 3 nights over Easter weekend. We didn't have high expectations, but it was a perfectly fine stay at a much lower price than either Liverpool before or London after.

We booked a two-double family room and received a room on the sixth floor. Upon checking in, the front desk person apologized for the supposedly massive number of children and said that the bar was closing early as a result. We were tired and were not going to partake, but it was a nice explanation.

The room was fine, the shower was good, the weather was temperate so we didn't have to really worry about either the heat or AC much. The only demerits were that there was no plug next to either bed so I had to string my CPAP from the desk plug and use the desk chair next to the bed, and there was no sports station on the TV system. We got a couple of free bottles of water now and then just by asking at the front desk. I'm still Gold after years of Spire, so maybe that's why they didn't charge.

We didn't use any of the F&B options, but instead had a very good breakfast at Grand Central next to New Street Station on Easter Sunday, before taking the train to check out a couple of microbreweries south of the city center. Monday was about attending an afternoon match at West Brom, and we left Tuesday morning for London.

If I needed a two-doubles room, I would definitely return. If I was traveling solo, I might investigate other options closer to New Street but I'd definitely consider coming back.
