I wonder if airlines need to pay some hidden fees to the airport for passengers going through the fastlane / SP.
Platinum for 2 with Amex is something completely different.
That one allows you to grant Plat to someone else (typically your partner) that they can use and enjoy Plat benefits fully, including when they travel alone, and including guesting people on their own recognizance in ST and contract lounges in AFKL hubs and elsewhere.
This would allow either for every pax on the same PNR as Plat (i.e. a family or group of colleagues without status of their own) to enjoy SkyPriority, or to grant 1 (one) pax on a different PNR the same SkyPriority analogous to invite to the lounge.
With Plat for 2 your partner could still do the same thing for
their co-travellers.

Schiphol does not charge extra, but allows airlines to grant priority to their pax with the target of 15% max.
Other airports charge extra for prio pax over standard.
