I refinanced with them in October - was attracted to the best rate guarantee + points... I shopped around, got a great rate, then called Amex. They required proof of the other offer - fax of the good faith estimate was sufficient - and then offered to match - or for a slightly higher rate, -5/8 pt. Took the negative point as a better deal after tax considerations. Closing was via FedEx.

Overall, having done a couple of original mortgages, and more than a few refinances, Amex was far and away the easiest to deal with. I would highly recommend them (of course, YMMV).

Only downside: the points never posted - They said to allow 10-12 weeks... as this was week 13, I called today (MR Help desk). They checked & posted the points while I was on the phone.
