I believe your bags will be tagged all the way to SIN though not 100% positive, since you're checking in with AA in CLE I seem to recall issues with AA issuing bag tags for flights more than +24 hours out. However it's been years since I needed to do that so will let others confirm.
As to a hotel, with that much time you really don't need to confine yourself just to the HND locale. Plenty of time to go into the city and have a decent night in Tokyo. I was in Japan last week, on a USD basis the exchange rate to JPY is very favorable, my taxi from the Conrad (Ginza/Shiodome area) to HND was 7k JPY (about $45) and only 20 mins. On a Tues morning I left the hotel at 8:33am and was sitting in the JL lounge at HND at 9:11am, for example.
