It sounds like AA might now consider your bag lost -- as opposed to merely delayed. Presumably you have receipts for the recently-purchased suitcase, as well as for the replacement articles of clothing. You'll just have to provide whatever documentation you have for the suitcase contents. Don't forget that AA is entitled to consider depreciation for any item that is not new.
If some of the items in the suitcase were purchased online, you might still be able to find itemized receipts in your email.
This is what I feared...this will take hours and will get nowhere near a full accounting of what was lost... but it may be my only option.
