I was there for 30 years but moved back to Hawaii about the time UA and CO merged. I go back to Houston occasionally, but now realize how miserable the Houston summers are that I acclimated to. If I’m there in August, I can’t wait to get back to the cooler, less humid Hawaii
CO’s first Tokyo service was actually a 747 IAH-HNL-NRT, I believe in late ‘80s. It was awesome for me as I was working Asia for The Largest U. S. Integrated Oil Company.
I guess UA doesn’t provide a routing IAH-HNL-(ANA)NRT nowadays because of timing in HNL. They could eastbound, but it’d be a long same-day layover.
