I am flying with my wife and three kids (10, 8, 8) from BHX to BLL in late May. Seat assignments are ~EUR 9 per person, per flight - an extra EUR 180 - which is a lot on top of the airfare. My question is, how good are KL at seating families together if they haven't paid for seat assignments? I am aware that "the rules" state that they can't separate kids from at least one parent in case of evacuation, but I've also heard that some airlines still kick up a huge fuss about it. Any advice on how to approach this would be appreciated.
