CX has better IFE than JL.. in fact, CX has one of the best selections of entertainment so it blows JL out of the water, unless you are specifically looking for Japanese programming (tv shows, movies, etc).
If you are OW sapphire/emerald, HKG lounges are much nicer than what's available at HND/NRT... not that Tokyo airports are bad but the Wing, Pier, etc are some of the top.

I don't have Status anywhere I'm afraid.
I had 41K Asia Miles from lots of Cathay Economy flights which got wiped out by Covid and now have 31K Miles and More Points.
When flying I do tend to watch Japanese films but surely Cathay will have a couple.

One thing I love with JAL/ANA is the lounge access for PE passengers, last year's experience in Haneda was great, so nice to prepare for flight with a hot shower, relax in a chilled environment.
The gate area felt like a zoo in comparison
