CX and JL service is comparable in PE / Econ respectively. Above avg service compared to US/EU airlines.. plenty of airline meal pics online, just search for both.
CX has better IFE than JL.. in fact, CX has one of the best selections of entertainment so it blows JL out of the water, unless you are specifically looking for Japanese programming (tv shows, movies, etc).
If you are OW sapphire/emerald, HKG lounges are much nicer than what's available at HND/NRT... not that Tokyo airports are bad but the Wing, Pier, etc are some of the top.
