Vouchers can now be used for solo travel as well as couples. And the availability is enhanced to include I class business as well as normal reward seats, so availability should be pretty good as long as you book 6 months in advance (obviously depending on the precise route).
The Gold card gives x2 MRP on purchases with all airlines, just to flag, so on that point the difference is slightly less.
