She's flying United in Economy out of Schiphol today (so non-schengen)
She's just been turned away from the Aspire non-schengen lounge there - the person on the door said *G in Economy don't get access to Aspire lounges.
Is this correct? It's not what I - or she - expected.

Aspire is a contract lounge so it all depends on what airlines have contracted with it and what the access rules are that both have agreed on.
Checking the UA mobile app, AMS Aspire access for UA passengers is only for those flying Polaris.
She would have had access to the Star Alliance lounge in the Schengen zone if she had been willing to detour there before going through passport control.
