Would appreciate additional sight seeing recommendations—things not to be missed. Again I’d hoped to include the Grand Palace / Emerald Buddha but I was totally wiped out in the heat after about 2 hours at Wat Pho.
Grand Palace would be worth it for a first time visitor (well, second time since you are coming back ). You can jump on the boat up the river to get there. I would still suggest to check out the for instance Eagle’s Nest roof top on Soi Tha Tien behind Wat Pho. And if you want to walk from your hotel to the river, try out Jack’s Bar next to Shangri-La on the river - cheap local food and drinks.

Other sights around there, maybe City Pillar Shrine, which is very popular with the local community, and is also around the same area as the Palace
