Thanks I think we will stay two nights, and we will do this at the end of the trip likely arriving at Gare Est and then going to CDG. We will have heavy luggage and are not the best on foot anymore so will need hotel close to stations, and hopefully some of the metro stations have elevators (Berlin was great for that).
To minimize the hassle of carrying the heavy luggage, take the airport bus to downtown Paris or better yet a taxi or uber to your hotel.
