I saw some bad press at the end of last year on the long waits at KIX Kansai Kyoto/Osaka Airport. From the couple of posts I saw recently, it seemed like the issues have been cleared up? Has anyone flown out of KIX recently? We're flying at 2:30pm on a Saturday, and leaving from Kyoto (probably by car since we're not that close to the train station). Would be great to hear how long security/passport control for departures takes as well as if anyone has tried to check luggage with HK Express. Thanks to everyone for their advice!
I flew out of KIX about 2 weeks ago and at 8pm for a 11pm flight.
It was a mess at check in, this *may* be airline dependent it was hard to tell. Security was also messy some of that is to do with other passengers in a fluster. This was travelling J and using the express lane for security.
'Self serve' passport control is a little confusing, I didn't get a lot of obvious feedback that I was cleared to proceed so read the screen carefully.
Despite all that time wise it was okay, but I can't remember how long. More than enough time to get bored in the lounge.
