Interesting re YVR as I and a dozen or so others that I know and who fly to from Canada ex HK have often mentioned/experienced that the service on the route was 9nferior from the Cathay norm.
I use to fly the route a couple of times a year pre Covid and found the same. basically they were often lazy and some mildly aggressive
Certainly at that time many of the c crew seemed to be Canadian based -but am not certain on this.
