For JL 41, when should I expect sunrise to begin before arriving into London?
For JL 43, would the entire flight be under daylight or I'll observe both sunset and sunrise during the journey?
In addition, what would be the chances of being able to see the northern lights when flying over the Arctic region?

timings for reference: HND - LHR
JL 41 00:20 - 06:25
JL 43 09:45 - 15:50

would appreciate any experience on these two flights on the Eastern route!
There is a centrally activated dimmer on the windows that is controlled by JL staff. You won’t be experiencing daylight on these flights in the usual way.

I’ve seen accounts on this forum from folks who take action to override the initial cabin wide dimming and thus keep individual control of their window’s dimming function. I haven’t done this myself.

On the 41 route, about 3 weeks before the Autumn Equinox, the sun seemed to be shining as we left the Bering Strait. You’ll be able to discern whatever is below you in the Artic but you’re seeing everything through a glass darkly - here are photos to show what I mean. (On the other hand, the digital route map will show you criss crossing over the date lines so often you will need to concentrate to keep count.)
