I presume so, as that is why I was looking in such details at the fare rules a few months ago... 5 days is however a bit of a pain, as many tourists may not realise it exists, and may initially try a 7 day stopover, before routing via Singapore/Middle East for example. From my perspective, it stops any hope of nested tickets over a weekend, and means my days of ex-CMB / ex-KTM trips to Oceania, and ex-TPE/ex-CAN to the Americas have been replaced with non-Cathay flying on QR, EK or just RTW tickets.
