Beyond this being a discussion of principles (i.e. you get what you pay for, etc.) I would expect that these days we will see this happen on more routes that are affected by the ongoing kerfuffle in the ME region. I suspect some of the US flights are pushing the limits on fuel with the current closures of airspace.
