If the cost of a breakfast is significant to you, or you find the unexpected difficult to deal with, may I suggest that travel generally may not be for you.

Speaking for myself, I find it hard to fault the hotel without knowing more about the circumstances. If the restaurant is closed because of, say, a plumbing or electrical problem that started months ago, I'm completely with you. If, however, the restaurant is closed because of a problem that occurred an hour ago, I come down on on the side of the restaurant.

Understand that things sometimes happen when you travel. Years ago, my flight home from SXM was cancelled when a volcano on a neighboring island erupted and spewed ash that closed the airspace for several days. Even longer ago, my checked bag once ended up on a different flight from the one I was on (due to the cancellation of the original flight IAD-LAX) and some passengers were rebooked on one alternate IAD-DEN, while some were booked on another, but the checked bags all went on the other flight, which was hijacked to YVR by an escaped mental patient -- true story, I swear!

I've always looked at occurrences like that as part of the adventure of travel!
