Picked up again today in PDX. "Mystery Car" was a Jeep Gladiator. Yikes! Went to the preferred desk and asked if I could get an EV (again, there were many on the lot). She asked what EV I wanted and I said a Mach-E or an EV6. She said she had to check her sheet and then said only the Solterra (Subaru) would be a no cost upgrade. I asked if the EV6 and Mach-E were in the same class (they are according to the CSR). I inquired how much the upgrade charge would be and she said it would be just $20/day. I told her I could book the same car online for $15 a day more than the manager special. She said upgrades have to go off the "walk-up" rate, and that she recommended I just book it online at the lower rate. So I did so and she gave me the EV6 I wanted to try.
I thought they were commissioned based on upselling but maybe not anymore!
The Ev6 is super nice. It's a "Wind AWD". Has heated/ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, navigation, all the safety equipment. Had a 100% charge at pickup and she said i would only be charged if I brought it back below 70%.
I must admit, the EV6 is pretty sweet. I've seen many on the road and wanted to try one. The only downside is there is only a small (read tiny) frunk and not much space under the cargo area. Much different than my Tesla. But the rear windows roll down all the way.
