Solid Airport Property

We have stayed at many LHR hotels over the years (both Sheratons, Hilton T4, Hilton Hatton Cross, Hilton T2, Hex T4 and Holiday Inn T5), so we are pretty comfortable with the options. We have made the HEX T4 our go to option as of late as we have a lot of IHG points to burn through. For this particular stay, I was able to get a 5K points booking (not always available and has now gone up I think to a cat 2) so it presented good value and we were arriving T5 and departing T3 so this is well positioned for that. Plus, I wanted to check out this property as it seems to get some varied feedback. In short, I think this is a really solid property, for an airport property. A few notes and photos.
  • We arrived at LHR T5. I find Uber/Bolt to be too expensive from LHR, so in the case....it was the bus. While we do not like the Hoppa buses, we were prepared to take the next departing option. That turned out to be TFL but 423. Easy and inexpensive enough but a pain with bags as everyone had bags and not much space for them. We managed. The bus stop (Compass Centre) from T5 is literally in front of the hotel entrance so that is extremely convenient and the stop across the road for buses going the other direction is also very convenient as there is a cross walk in front of the hotel, that is not always the case and very handy IMO.
  • Check in was great really. The check in person inquired about our departure terminal and offered options. He even jotted down the buses that head to T3 on a piece of paper (included in photos). Nice way to start off.
  • As a Globalist, upgraded to a "high floor" room. That really is not much but at HP's I don't expect much so it is fine. The room is ok for one night. Relatively tight on space but well appointed. The bathrooms are a little dreary and in a "classic" motif but perfectly functional. A little surprised to fine slippers and robes at an airport HP property.
  • We had dinner at the hotel. They have a bar area and a restaurant, both just off the lobby but in separate spaces. They bar menu is more casual food offerings and the restaurant has more of what you would expect but they gave us both menus. Service kind of sucked. I counted 5 occupied tables, two servers and zero motivation. The servers were pleasant. We had an appetizer, 3 glasses of wine, two mains (Indian Curry and Club Sandwich) and it was about 75GBP. I consider that pricey but the quality was good and it is an airport hotel so about what I expected.
  • We were at the restaurant at opening time the next morning. Staff explained it was completely self serve and for us to enjoy. It was complimentary as a Globalist of course and they have a list they check. Found breakfast to be a very pleasant surprise. The danish and breads were extremely fresh and the Comberland Sausages were very tasty. Definitely a far cry from your typical HP breakfast in the USA, not even close.
  • We ended up taking Bolt to T3 as it is relatively cheap about 12GBP particularly with all our bags.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it. Given the convenience of the bus stops, makes this a very attractive option, especially for anyone traveling with just carry on. In the photos posted, you will see the stop in front and the crosswalk in front of the property.
