It's nothing new about this - I have had so much issues using them in Germany previously that I have decided to give up on it.

The FD manager I talked to said since he worked there there were less than 5 people using the GC. He said it is absolutely ridiculous to train the whole front desk team when only 5 people out of thousands that used the GC to pay.

Using them in the US was seamless but as soon as I was outside the US forget it.

I suspect Marriott might close down the GC payment outside NA - which makes sense since most of their customers are not using GC to pay anyways.
The Leipzig Marriott where they over charged my GCs by 145.83 euro because they took full balances of both GCs, finally refunded the amount back to one GC after multiple emails from me to follow up that were mysteriously disappeared and at least 1/2 a doz calls to the FD manager. The worst thing is, they are absolutely NOT apologetic on making this boo boo. Their attitude is, sure we made a mistake and we will give you the refund back but you don’t need to contact us on this…. I have never seen such an arrogant attitude.

The only person knew how to find out GC balances told me, he went back last year’s record, there were only 2 guests used GCs in the whole 2023. That I might be the 1 and the only to use GC in 2024. He said because it was so rare each time he needed to return to the manual. Unfortunately it was not him actually processing the GCs but the accounting dept who only see the balances of GCs noted in the folio but without any brain cell to calculate how much remaining to take out after already zeroing out the first card. Instead the accounting dept zeroed out both cards for 460 total yet the folio was only 314. The only guy who know actually told me the night before that after said and done there should be 145.83 left on the card that was processed last.

There is also a weird German law that you cannot charge the guest until one day after guest check out. He told me would not see change immediately at least for 2 days. In fact I checked out on Mar 29, GCs not processed until April 2nd.

So what do you say? It is such an elementary math yet the accounting dept goofed up BIG.

CY Hong Kong processed GC just like US properties in 30 seconds everything was done.
